Stening Simpson Group congratulates Michael Chugg of Chugg Entertainment for being voted Pollstar’s ‘International Promoter of the Year’- the international touring industry’s most coveted prize.

Michael received the award on January 30 at a ceremony held at the 2009 Pollstar Awards held at Club Nokia L.A., in Los Angeles, and was the only Australian nominated in his category, and only one of three Australian nominees in any category alongside AC/DC and Keith Urban.

In a remarkable testament to his ongoing achievements, this is the second time Michael has won the Pollstar ‘International Promoter of the Year’, the first time in 2000.

The honor also comes on the back of another major win, when Michael was made the recipient of the “Bottle Award”, as part of the Arthur Awards, a life time achievement award presented at the prestigious 20th Annual ILMC (International Live Music Conference) in March of last year. This followed his receipt of the award for Best Promoter (or “Promoter’s Promoter”) at the 18th ILMC conference held in London in March 2006.

In his category, Michael went up against a who’s who of International Promoters, which included several major independent promoters as well as a number of well-established promoters belonging to the industry’s dominating global music groups; Live Nation and AEG Live.

As an independent promoter, Michael is in great shape just four weeks into the New Year, with tours from Coldplay, The Kooks, The Swell Season and America’s biggest selling artist of 2008, Taylor Swift, all a part of its first quarter calendar. At the awards, Michael hinted at some major tour announcements due in the next few weeks.

Michael who has toured the likes of Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Elton John, Bette Midler, Bob Dylan, Keith Urban, John Mayer and Jason Mraz to name a few, believes the coming year will yield positive returns and be a success for Chugg Entertainment their touring artists, and fans alike.
