On the morning of 8 July 2024, the Russian military fired at least 40 ballistic and cruise missiles toward the cities of Dnipro, Kramatorsk, Kryvyi Rih, and the capital Kyiv. Ukrainian air defenses shot down an undisclosed number of Russian missiles, causing debris to fall overseveral populated areas. In Kyiv, a missile struck Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital, collapsing part of the building. Initial reports indicate approximately 29 people died and 55 others suffered injuries across the country. In the capital, at least 10 people died and 35 people suffered injuries. In Kryviy Rih, 11 people were killed, and 39 more were injured. The attack ignited fires and damaged public infrastructure, including commercial and residential buildings. Emergency crews have been deployed to the hospital to search for individuals trapped under rubble
