On 11 February 2020, regional carrier Air Italy announced the liquidation and suspension of all its operations due to financial struggles. Officials stated that other carriers will operate Air Italy flights from 11-25 February as planned. Flights scheduled to operate after 25 February are eligible for refunds. Air Italy is the latest European airline to go out of business; other recent failures include France’s XL Airways, Iceland’s WOW Air and the U.K.’s Thomas Cook, which all ceased operations in 2019.
