On 28 May 2024, the U.S. Embassy in Suva, Fiji, issued an alert for New Caledonia, which reads in part as follows: “The New Caledonia Chamber of Commerce (CCI) confirmed that Tontouta International airport will remain closed to commercial flights until Sunday June 2. Air Calin will update travelers about flights schedules through its website.

“If you are in New Caledonia:

The situation remains volatile and could escalate without notice.

The State of Emergency is lifted as of today, May 28, 2024.

Exercise caution and avoid large public demonstrations at all times.

Roads leading into and out of Noumea may be closed during periods of civil unrest.”
