On 10 January 2020, the U.S. Embassy in Bern issued a Demonstration Alert, which reads in part as follows:
“Location: Bern, Lucerne, Zurich, Davos, and possibly other cities in Switzerland
“Event: Planned and unplanned demonstrations are expected to take place in a variety of locations in the lead up to the 2020 World Economic Forum which will take place January 20 – 24, 2020 in Davos, Switzerland. The Embassy is aware of the following demonstrations but there may be others:
- Lucerne on Saturday, January 11
- Bern on Saturday, January 18
- Landquart to Davos, January 19-21 (Demonstration-Hike)
- Zurich on Wednesday, January 22
“Other dates/locations are possible, monitor local media for more information.”
