On 30 May 2023, the Russian military conducted drone strikes against Kyiv while Ukrainian or Ukrainian-allied forces in turn conducted a small-scale drone attack against Moscow. Officials in Moscow reported the downing of at least eight drones outside of the city, which resulted in minor damage to residential buildings. Reports also indicated that drone debris struck Leninsky Prospekt and an area of Moscow where high-ranking Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, maintain residences. At least two individuals were injured in Moscow in relation to the downing of the drones. In three separate but related incidents, Russian forces deployed at least 20 drones and an undetermined number of missiles against Kyiv over a 24-hour period. Ukraine’s air defense systems intercepted a large number of the missiles; nevertheless, at least one person was killed and three others were injured in the attacks.
