South Korean military officials report that North Korea launched eight ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on 5 June 2022. The missiles – launched from four different locations, including from the Sunan area of the North Korean capital Pyongyang — flew approximately 110-670 km (70-420 mi) to the east before landing in the Sea of Japan. The missile launch follows the 3 June completion of the first large-scale U.S.-South Korean naval exercise in more than four years. There were no reports of damage to maritime vessels or casualties connected to the missile launches.
