At least two explosions occurred at a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in the northwestern town of Kabal, located in the Swat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident occurred when an electrical short circuit inside an ammunition depot at the police station caused two explosions. The explosions resulted in the building’s collapse and power outages throughout the province. At least 17 people were killed, and 50 more were injured. Earlier in the day Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and several local officials had mistakenly attributed the explosion to a suspected terrorist attack.
