In the early morning hours of 31 January 2024, an explosives-laden drone crashed into an oil refinery in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg. Local media reported that Russian air defense systems intercepted the drone with an S-400 missile, but the drone reached the Nevsky Mazut refinery and crashed on its premises. According to the governor of St. Petersburg, there were no casualties in the incident and the refinery sustained no significant damage. The Ukrainian military intelligence reportedly carried out the drone attack.
