On the afternoon of 6 May 2023, a gunman opened fire at shoppers in the parking lot of the Allen Premium Outlets mall in the city of Allen, Texas, located approximately 25 mi (40 km) north of downtown Dallas. The attacker fired several dozen shots before he was shot and killed by a police officer. At least eight people were killed in the attack, and seven others were wounded. The motive for the shooting is not known.
