According to a report published by the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights on 21 March 2023, during 1 January to 15 March, Haitian gang-related violence killed 531 people, injured 300 others, and led to the abductions of another 277. The majority of these attacks took place in the capital Port-au-Prince. Additionally, there are at least 160,000 internally displaced individuals in Haiti due to the instability. The physical insecurity has exacerbated the effects of other ongoing issues such as food insecurity, as well as a lack of sanitation services and potable water.
