On 13 June 2024, Lebanon-based militant group Hizballah fired at least 180 projectiles targeting 15 locations in northern Israel and the Golan Heights, including military bases. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted and destroyed an undetermined number of projectiles fired into northern Israel. The Hizballah attack triggered at least 15 wildfires in uninhabited areas across northern Israel. At least two people were injured. Hizballah leaders stated that the attack was in retaliation to an IDF airstrike on 12 June that killed Taleb Abdullah — a senior Hizballah commander.
