At approximately 0600 local time on 2 May 2023 (2200 UTC on 1 May) an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a commercial business in the Jalan Puchong area of the capital Kuala Lumpur. No one was injured in the attack. Police officers later discovered three additional remote-controlled IEDs near the Tiara Mutiara 1 condominium in the Jalan Klang Lama area of the capital. Explosives technicians safely defused the IEDs. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive and perpetrator behind the failed attacks.
