On 11 March 2022, the ongoing Russian military offensive in Ukraine has intensified further as new airstrikes are being reported in the eastern city of Dnipro as well as at airfields in the western cities of Ivano-Frankivsk and Lutsk. Heavy fighting continues in other Ukrainian cities, such as Chernihiv, Mariupol and Oskil. Many of the attacks are targeting residential buildings, hospitals and other civilian facilities, and have resulted in multiple civilian injuries, as well as the loss of electricity, heat and water. Meanwhile, a massive Russian military convoy stationed to the northwest of the capital Kyiv has reportedly repositioned to nearby areas in a likely attempt to prepare for a ground assault on the capital. A U.S. defense official stated the previous day that the convoy had traveled about 5 km (3 mi) toward Kyiv over the past 24 hours; the convoy had largely stalled in recent days due to suspected logistical issues, including fuel and food shortages.
