On 16 January 2024, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missiles and drones targeting two bases of the Sunni militant group, Jaish al-Adl, in the mountains of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The IRGC assault followed several attacks on Iranian soil claimed by Jaish al-Adl. Pakistani officials stated the strike killed two individuals and injured three others and was a violation of its airspace. In response, Pakistani authorities recalled their ambassador to Iran and have refused to allow the Iranian ambassador to return to Pakistan.
