On 11 August 2020, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern ordered a Level 3 lockdown of Auckland beginning at 1200 local time on 12 August (1200 UTC on 11 August) through 0000 local time on 15 August in response to four locally transmitted cases of COVID-19. Under a Level 3 lockdown, residents are required to remain home except to perform essential activities and entertainment venues such as movie theaters are closed. Supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open. The remainder of the country will enter a Level 2 lockdown during the same period.
