On 22 June 2024, a group of rioters identified by local authorities as contraband smugglers set fire to a National Agricultural and Livestock Health Service Food Safety (SENASAG) checkpoint in Yacuiba, Gran Chaco province, located at the Campo Pajoso crossing along the Bolivia-Argentina border. According to local officials, the perpetrators torched the checkpoint in retaliation to the confiscation of a truck used to smuggle agricultural products earlier in the week. The rioters also temporarily blockaded National Route 9, which connects Bolivia to Argentina, prior to entering into negotiations with municipal authorities. There were no reported injuries.
