On the morning of 23 January 2024, the Russian military conducted airstrikes on the capital Kyiv and the northeastern city of Kharkiv. Ukrainian military officials stated that air defenses shot down 21 of the 41 missiles fired toward both cities. In the Kharkiv area, the missiles struck approximately 30 residential buildings, killing six people and wounding 48 others. Meanwhile in Kyiv, the missiles struck residential buildings and public spaces. One person was killed in Kyiv and at least 20 others were wounded.
