On the morning of 24 November 2021, police officers in the Rio San Pedro area of Puerto Real – located in the Cadiz province of the community of Andalusia – fired tear gas and rubber bullets at demonstrators taking part in an ongoing labor strike. Protestors reportedly set fire to containers and threw rocks at police officers. The demonstrations mark the ninth consecutive day of an ongoing strike led by metalworkers in demand of higher wages amidst increasing inflation rates.
