On 13 August 2021, police officers in the capital Bangkok deployed tear gas to disperse anti-government protesters in the city’s Din Daeng area. The demonstrators reportedly began marching from the Democracy Monument earlier in the day toward Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha’s residence to demand his resignation. Police officers stopped the protesters when the latter attempted to remove roadblocks erected by authorities. Shortly afterward, protest organizers canceled the demonstration, although several groups of protesters reportedly remained in the area. At least two people suffered injuries after being struck by projectiles, but information regarding arrests is unknown
