On 26 January 2021, the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office (FCDO) issued updated travel advice for the Netherlands, which reads in part as follows: “There have been incidents of violence and unrest across the Netherlands since Saturday 23 January, with night-time rioting taking place across numerous cities, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, The Hague and Gouda. The incidents have occurred following the implementation of new COVID-19 restrictions, including a curfew between the hours of 21:00 and 04:30 [2000-0330 UTC]. Several cities have invoked emergency powers. There remains a risk of violence and damage to property. You should avoid areas where rioting is taking place and follow the advice of local authorities.”
