At approximately 1230 local time (0930 UTC) on 7 July 2021, 14 rockets struck Ain al-Asad Airbase (ORAA/IQA) in Anbar province. At least two people suffered minor injuries as a result of the attack. There were no reports of damage to the facility, although several homes nearby and a mosque were damaged, according to a U.S. military spokesman. A group calling itself Liwa Tha’ar al-Muhandis claimed responsibility for the attack.

Additionally, at approximately 2230 local time (1930 UTC) on 6 July, a drone attack occurred at Erbil International Airport (ORER/EBL), which houses U.S. military personnel, in the Kurdistan region. There were no reports of damage or casualties. However, operations at the airport were briefly suspended following the attack.
