On 18 June 2024, the Haitian Minister of Defense announced that armed forces have been placed on alert following the interim government’s assessment of the country’s security situation. Haitian military personnel will now maintain a strategic posture in order to assist the Haitian National Police in anti-gang operations in accordance with “Condition D” directives. Prior to the announcement, Prime Minister Garry Conille reportedly held several meetings with international partners involved in the imminent deployment of the U.N.-authorized Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission to Haiti.
