At approximately 2100 local time (2000 UTC) on 9 March 2023, a gunman opened fire at a Jehovah’s Witnesses center located along Deelböge road in the Gross Borstel district of the northern German city of Hamburg. Six people were killed in the shooting and eight others were wounded, including four who remain in serious condition. The assailant — a local resident and former member of the church — committed suicide after police officers responding to the event entered the building. Authorities are investigating to determine a motive for the attack.
