On the night of 4 September 2021, Houthi rebels launched explosives-laden drones and ballistic missiles toward Saudi Arabia. According to the Defense Ministry, the Saudi military intercepted three drones and three missiles deployed by the Yemen-based rebel group. One of the projectiles was intercepted near a residential neighborhood in the city of Damaam, located in Eastern province. Scattered shrapnel from the projectile wounded two individuals and caused minor damage to at least 14 homes in the area. The rebel group also claimed that it launched five ballistic missiles and two armed drones targeting oil facilities in the cities of Jeddah, Jizan and Najran, without offering any evidence to back up the claim. There were no reports of any impact on Saudi oil facilities.
