On 13 June 2022, the Israeli government urged its citizens to avoid all travel to Istanbul, Turkey, due to a heightened threat of attacks against Israeli citizens. Israel’s foreign minister warned Israeli citizens against all travel to Istanbul and advised those currently visiting the city to return home as soon as possible. In addition, Israeli citizens have been advised to avoid nonessential travel to other areas of Turkey. The travel warning comes as Turkish authorities reported the arrests of several suspected Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) operatives in Turkey amid Iran’s threats of retaliation against Israel for allegedly taking part in the assassination of an IRGC colonel the previous month.
