At approximately 1230 local time (1030 UTC) on 1 March 2023, police officers fired tear gas, stun grenades and water cannons at hundreds of protesters gathered on Ayalon highway approximately 2 km (1 mi) east of central Tel Aviv. Police officers attempted to disperse the demonstrators after they broke through police barricades on the highway. At least three demonstrators were injured and 22 were detained. Elsewhere in Tel Aviv, demonstrators disrupted vehicular traffic in the downtown area and train traffic at Hagana station.
