A critical incident was declared by major hospitals in London on 4 June 2024, due to a ransomware cyberattack on one of the National Health Service’s (NHS) pathology service providers. Hospitals impacted include King’s College HospitalGuy’s and St. Thomas’ HospitalsRoyal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, and Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Although some procedures and operations are being canceled, patients are being advised that they should attend appointments as normal unless contacted by the hospital.

NHS England for the London region has said “this is having a significant impact on the delivery of services at Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts and primary care services in south east London.

The emergency department (A&E) of St. Thomas’ Hospital is reported to be running as usual, and urgent care centers at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals are also open, although longer wait times may be experienced.
