On the morning of 10 May 2024, the Russian military launched a ground attack in the northeastern Kharkiv region. According to Ukrainian officials, aerial bombs and other artillery weapons were used to attack the town of Vovchansk, located approximately 55 km (35 mi) northeast of Kharkiv. At least two people were killed and four others were injured by the strikes. Ukrainian soldiers were sent to the area shortly after the attacks in preparation for increased Russian military actions in the northeastern part of the country, in addition to the ongoing fighting largely concentrated in Ukraine’s eastern and southern regions.
