Police officers clashed with dozens of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) supporters near the party’s office in the Kazir Dewri area of the southeastern port city of Chattogram. BNP activists threw various objects at police officers and lit fires in the streets as security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters. The clash occurred when BNP members attempted to enter an area that police had cordoned off. At least 30 people — including 20 police officers — were injured in the clashes. Authorities arrested at least 16 protesters.
