At approximately 1345 local time (0945 UTC) on 15 October 2021, suicide bombers struck a Shiite mosque in southern Kandahar. Reports indicate that the attack killed approximately 50 people and left at least 100 people wounded. The occurrence follows a similar bombing on 8 October at a mosque in Kunduz, northern Afghanistan, that killed nearly 50 worshippers. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
