On 26 June 2024, the German Federal Foreign Office issued updated travel advice urging their citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon, and if present in Lebanon, to depart. German officials cited the continuing exchange of fire between Lebanon-based Hizballah and Israel along Lebanon’s southern border and the potential for further escalation as the reasons for the update. Officials further noted that conflict may escalate and expand to the southern areas of the capital Beirut as well as into the Bekaa Valley. Such escalations, they noted, may result in a suspension of operations at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (OLBA/BEY).

Analyst Comment: UnitedHealthcare Global has recommended against all travel to Lebanon since October 2023.
