On 13 August 2023, the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) issued updated travel advice for Sweden, which reads in part as follows: “Terrorists are very likely to try and carry out attacks in Sweden. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreigners.

“The authorities in Sweden have successfully disrupted a number of planned attacks and made a number of arrests.

“There is a heightened threat of terrorist attacks globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time.”
