On the morning of 19 April 2024, two assailants targeted a vehicle transporting five Japanese nationals in the eastern Landhi area of the city of Karachi. A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vest at the site, while his accomplice fired shots toward the vehicle. The gunman was killed by police officers patrolling the area. All five Japanese nationals escaped unharmed but a nearby vehicle was damaged and a private security guard escorting the foreigners was killed. Additionally, two bystanders were wounded in the blast. According to local authorities, the targeted vehicle was heading to Pakistan Suzuki Motors in the city’s industrial area. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
